Plumbing · Water heaters
Water heater installation & replacement in Kansas City.
A water heater replacement is the chance to fix sizing & safety problems the old one had. GeothermalKC installs & replaces tank & tankless water heaters, with expansion tanks & hot water recirculation where the house needs them.
Sizing & water quality
A tank heater is sized by how much hot water the household uses in its busiest hour; a tankless heater by how many fixtures run at once & how cold the incoming water is in winter.
Hard water shortens a water heater's life by building scale in the tank or heat exchanger, so water quality is part of the recommendation.
HVAC & plumbing work is contracted & licensed through GeothermalKC, for homes & new buildings across the Kansas City metro & surrounding counties.

Common questions
How long does a water heater last?
Tank water heaters commonly last about a decade, & hard water shortens that. Water coming from the tank body, not a fitting, means the tank has failed & needs replacing.
Should a tank be replaced with a tankless water heater?
Sometimes. A tankless heater saves space & never runs out of stored hot water, but it asks more of the gas line, venting or electrical service than a tank does, so those are checked before it is recommended.
Does a water heater need an expansion tank?
Often. When the water system is closed off from the street by a check valve or a pressure reducing valve, heated water has nowhere to expand, & an expansion tank protects the heater & the plumbing.
Why is there no hot water?
Common causes are a failed pilot or ignition or a closed gas supply on gas units, a tripped breaker or failed element on electric units, or a thermostat or vacation setting left low.
